There will be THREE college scholarships awarded, and each recipient will be granted $1,000.

The ability to overcome adversity is a valuable skill in wrestling and in life. Adversity can arise in many ways. It could come from a comment that someone makes or a restriction that is placed. Trials can also include a lack of access to services and activities. However hardship is encountered, young women face them daily.

The essay prompt is: Tell of a personal experience that you had where you faced adversity in wrestling and how it translates to how you handle hardship in your life off of the mat. Do not change or shorten the essay prompt.

The essay must be between 650 and 750 words in length. The type-written, double-spaced essay must be submitted via email as a PDF file. The essay must be original neither previously published nor secured by copyright. Please do not make an AI generated submission. All essays found to be plagiarized or AI generated will be removed from consideration.

The contest is open to all college-bound, high school seniors who competed in the Varsity Wonder Women Event held on December 29 & 30, 2023. The contest opens Friday, March 1, 2024 and closes Friday, March 29, 2024. The manuscript must be postmarked, or time stamped on the email no later than 11:59 pm, Friday, March 29, 2024, and sent to the specified submission link below:
